I thought people may be interested in my impressions and opinion on the Jaycar 10 inch paper woofer.
I have a few to spare and as one of my party boxes was getting tired and the wood was so well constructed it was a shame to ditch it so rebuild time. I used an old Tandy 10 inch as the mid-bass ( great driver for midrange, but with only 1.8mm of Xmax never was much good as a sub-woofer ) and a Jaycar 2119 as the 0.5 bass boost. Truth is I am surprised at the amount and quality of the amount of deep bass this speaker puts out. This is probably due to the peaky nature of the Jaycar woofer which has a 6dB hump centered around 60Hertz. I rolled the Tandy off with a simple 0.33mH coil and crossed to the tweeter ( old stock Jaycar ) second order and put a 5.6mH coil in front of the Jaycar. Both woofers share the same box volume of 90 liters which is loosely stuffed with Fiberglass and Polyfill, I am very happy with the result and it stays as is, except that it may get a coat of sealer to protect the MDF

I just listed another pair on ebay at $40- plus shipping, Same price OK with you??
Personally for OB I prefer the 12 inch, last pair of those sold for $76-, I still have a couple of pair left, the 12 has a better midrange. This pair of garage speakers is at the Geelong Mens Shed in Station St , Norlane if anyone wants a listen, open Wednesday from 0900, we have a table saw and other goodies but OH $ S won't allow MDF in the place ( No exhaust or vacuum collection )

New Aussie formulae
A mens shed without MDF = A pub with no beer Who runs the place, should be worth a comical write-up in the local rag. Terry

Hey, Moondog, give me the details of who runs the shed, names and org details. I'll have the Adelaide press run a typical anti-throw some mud at the Vics and see if we can embarras the hell out of them, it's just not cricket, stone the crows mate! How much can a bare koala bear bear.

I feel the same way, but I'm the only bloke there that makes speakers;;;;; ----> so far!!
The whole "Mens Shed" program is funded by the Victorian government; just another example of Victorians being treated like little children, I do hate the "Nanny State " ideology.

No wood fire in the winter either, so we have to take the wood scraps to the tip, although I try and take a bag home every week.
I do like the table saw tho, so I may have to change my ideas; spend more money I don't have and start building in Marine Ply
