First of all greetings to all this is my first post here.
I recently purchased a pair of Kef Calindas and asked my friend who has a van to help me get them from the seller. So he did however one of my tweeters is now not functioning. I've been brave (stupid?) enough to disconnect the diaphragm from the rest of the tweeter and noticed at when held at certain angles slightly off of it's original position the tweeter still produces sounds properly. I'm a total newbie as far as electronics go yet I would like to try to fix the tweeters myself if at all possible. What might be the cause of this annoyence and how could I fix it? Thanks already! |

So the coils been bent off axis and is jamming in the gap?
Usually fixing tweeters is limited to replacing the diaphragm/coil assembly. Trying to straighten out the coil will be very difficult and most likely unsuccessful - but hey, nothing to lose eh? I'd recommend making some kind of jig with dowels etc. to try and make sure you get everything square and not break off or squish the coil. Be careful where you put any glue. |

Or you can buy a T27 SP1032 tweeter off ebay. Replacing the diaphragm isn't very difficult but that is when you have a brand new replacement at hand. I had to replace a pair of T27 domes after a party lot's of years ago. But spares were still available back then.
Removing the diaphragm by itself can bend the VC and the faceplate is typically ruined after removal. |

Yes. All other options have failed me. I will buy a pair off ebay once I get my student grant this month (long live the social-state :P).
So would I need to solder the cables or would twist&tape method be satisfactory for the replacements? |

If you need to ask the question, it means you don't have a soldering iron. So, twist and wrap them with tape and enjoy music until you run across a soldering iron. Then you solder them.
