Really a 1k tone? You can come up with something better than that for a cable cooker. Why not some square waves or some sweeps. Actually this was my original idea for "Cable Op" just a blank hi res file you run through the cable. But watch out you don't wanna run that through the cable the wrong way! |

Because it's not a cable cooker. |

Just tried it. Sadly it's not easy to get back to the previous state. I notice less "grunge", more low level and to the limits of the stereo image detail and slightly better dynamics. It is definitely an improvement. Magnitude? Less than a cap or a cable, more comparable to a resistor change. Probably because it's for free

yeah yeah, I just seriously doubt there are any demagnetizing properties in a 1k tone. So to me it resembles a cable cooker.

What is a "cable cooker?"

Just a box that runs test tones through your cables in the attempt to break them in.

The demagnetising properties are very simple: it's symmetrical and gradually decreasing in amplitude. Not sure if the frequency is important at all. What frequencies do head demagnetisers use? Just mains frequency?
There are practically no magnetic components in my chain anyway. After some further listening everything appears to sound louder as well. I wonder how long the effect will last. |
