Like in balanced cabling? I guess that's where most of the "cable sound" comes from. When I had to go back to unbalanced cabling all this annoying hum and hiss came back.

In a more general tone,if what you mean that for the audiophile audio things must always be expensive,I don't think it is correct.Speaking of myself,my interconnects are expensive enough,my 12AX7's are quite expensive NOS,but my EL84's are either Sovtek or older low cost Russian Reflector.I have chosen all by listening to them in my system. My speaker cables on the other hand, are 12awg solid core mains cables, and I'm happy with them, after I have rejected much more expensive speaker cables.

When I claim a subtle preference for my inexpensive DIY solid core silver, it's an anecdote with no scientific relevance. I'm not asking for AES or IEEE acceptance, it's a simple statement of my perceptions. Far from being harmful to science, it's completely outside and irrelevant to it. You on the other hand demand acceptance of your statements as 'objective, scientific' fact - including those you invent without evidence - while discarding the most bedrock requirements of scientific process like peer reivew, based simply on the 'side' you're on. It's just not worth chasing.
Does this mean you will stop posting on the topic then ?

btw, Im not sure any cares at all about your inexpensive DIY solid core silver cables., Enjoy them and if you ever want to know the truth just do the PROPERLY CONTROLLED listening tests.

That's great but in my experience not very common.

Mine too. Thankfully no hum/noise issues in either system.

The discussion was not about "God", but an analogy to the situation with "faith" in ones capacity to judge sound quality with their ears. Audio in that sense is a religion and this whole thread cannot be discussed with "religious" concepts.

How many people do you know who bought their hifi going in a store with their LCR meters and measure the system? How many times have you judged a live sound by using your LCR meter?
Aren't you listening to your system?Who's getting the satisfaction, you or your meter?Have you ever measured a system and measured well but didn't like its sound? If yes, would you force yourself to own and listen to such system?
