Default Looking for Hi End OB Mid

I am looking for a hi end midrange to put in an OB.

I am trying the Seas Exotic W8 8" along with the T35 tweeter, but it might not work out.

I need something that it efficient 93db +, and will operate between 250 Hz and 1.5 KHz with 1st order filters.

I saw these:

Accuton C173N-T6-90, 6.5" Midrange, 93.2dB (was C90-T6) from Madisound

but don't know whether they would like an OB, and have heard that they may no longer be available.

Bass will be provided by a pair of 15" JBLs (K145s with field coil motors) in a 150L vented box.

Thanks

David

I remember they sell PHL drivers, but I cannot find PHL drivers anymore at their website. I have PHL drivers myself, model PHL 2460 a cheaper version of the highly regarded PHL1120, very expensive, US$175 each, selling in the States. They are very good.

You are correct ttan. They were still listing PHL a few weeks ago but the
site had not been updated in a long time. Now it has been updated and they are no longer listed. They also stocked some Etons which are no longer listed.
Getting harder and harder to diy here.

Helmuth,
The answer is quite simple:

A speaker is high end when I say it is!

Ok, I'm kidding but I thought that this question was in need of an authoritative answer. It really has no universally accepted answer from what I've gathered over the years.

Best Regards,
TerryO

Wrong TS-parameters for OB.

If you crossover low enough (between the tweeter and the W8), AND have a baffle wide enough to support the freq. you want and the high-pass character you want from the W8, then I don't think it's likely you can do much better..

The integration will however be key to your success.

You also might want to consider a dipole response for the tweeter as well, which would require another tweeter on the rear with a similar eff. and bandwidth (..though not requiring another T35). Alternativly IF the baffle is large enough - look to a BG Neo8 PDR as a dipole radiator (..which will also cost a hell of a lot less than a T35 plus rear driver).
