Well.... I wold agree that we tend to talk about FR more than we should - and neglect the time domain. There are at least a few brave souls here who do fly the "time domain flag." It may be just as important, if not more so.

So there goes two hours of my life reading this thread, do I regret it? No. Made me think about how I enjoy this hobby and why I DIY. To me audio is more art than a science, more subjective than objective. Good music and good reproduction of music stirs the soul, how do you measure that? I do appreciate many of the ideas on this site, good food for thought. The opinions are hit or miss.

It is not enough.
Still moving among classical acoustics: frequency response, equalization above all. No idea of self-correlated masking otherwise (analog and electronic) equalization would be banned by default. Looks like he just wants to standardize some type of reproduction...... |

Seems like you have made up your mind and will not even consider that there might be some useful tidbits from others. Toole shows actual results from a lot of research into what people hear. Very useful stuff. I wasn't expecting to resonant at all with the book from the snippets on the net. But i found lots of stuff in the book that i am finding useful, and a lot of validation in it, for the paths i've taken.
You mention a "gurus" name... Google turns up nothing. Got more info? dave
