Hi all,
I've been wanting to build my own speakers for quite a while. I actually got quite far with a design a few years back but the PC I was using at the time was stolen during a ram-raid on my offices. After that I put it to one-side and built a kit - the IPL S4. The IPL is okay but too big for my present room and a bit dull really. I use a SKA pre & power. Ideally, I'd like to do something smaller, poss a 2-way stand-mount. I've been spending plenty of time listening to commercial speakers trying to decide something that gives me what I'm after. Favourites include the Audionotes (actually very smitten with them, they do something so right for me) and the Living Voice speakers. There are others but them two stand-out. I just cant decide where to start! If anyone can throw anything in the ring it'd be greatly appreciated. |

I should add that I've always been impressed with closed-box designs. Doing a search shows that the SDX7 can produce good results in a sealed enclosure. Perhaps that with the FR125 in a largish stand-mount might be in order?

Some nice designs at Zaph|Audio but it depends on your budget and desires. Planet10 can provide super single driver designs suitable for for low wattage tube amps designs.

I've followed Zaphs' site for a godo while but there's nothing that takes my fancy. The SKA is 150w per channel so I'm sensitivity isn't a major issue.
I'm warning to a SDX7/FR125 combo. |

That sounds to be a nice combination of drivers to work with - have you seen BudP's thread on his EnABL cone treatment?

Here's the first EnABL thread EnABL Processes.
Reading the EnABL thread will take a while...but well worth the time invested. Helpful tip: Add the useful posts into your favourites as you go. The EnABL thread is very long and you'll probably need to refer back to it again later. Cheers, Alex
