Hello. A short introduction of my current system:
I am very pleased with my Tannoy Prestige Sandringhams. They use the classic Tannoy Dual Concentric 8" unit. It is still a relatively small speaker, so now I'm running stereo subwoofers (2x10" Sealed Seas drivers pr. side) with Marchand XM-9 active analog crossover. I'm very happy with the result - deeper and cleaner bass which integrates very well. I guess most of you know the feeling - you want more of the good stuff... I've been concidering to use some kind of DSP-tools (I've owned the DEQX-2,6PDC, but wasn't 100% pleased with it's transparency - but other options are available like the new HPD-3 or PC based systems - that's another story though...) To the question: Will a tower consisting of 2 PDN-15BR40 xo'ed in the 3-500Hz range in a W-DC-W be a good idea? I guess the 8" will be placed i a sealed enclosure and my initial thoughts are that it should be rather unproblematic to use the DC-driver i a sealed enclosure given the highish HP? The bafflestep will be slightly different I guess, but should be manageable with good DSP-software. I would appreciate some input on this subject before I spend lots of money on mdf and waste a lot of time. I realize that output will be limited by the DC-unit - but SQ are more important that extreme SPLs. Does a project like this make any sense? Musical diet is mostly rock - think Morrissey/The Smiths, Led Zeppelin, Dylan, ToP, Mahavishnu, Miles Davis etc... Regards Johan
