Default Phase Quadrature Crossovers?

Hi,

What do you guys think of crossovers that are in phase quadrature? For example, 7th order Butterworth.

I am building a speaker and I am considering the options of whether to use a L-R alignment or Butterworth, and also MTM or MT. I'll trust that you know about the advantages and disadvantages of each and not explain them here.

I must admit I am tempted by the 7th order Butterworth in either MT or MTM. However, my concern is whether the fact the mid and tweeter drivers are 90degrees out of phase will be audible? Any experience and comments? In theory it shouldn't be an issue with the drivers summing flat on axis, but I can't help thinking it will sound 'phasey' and not very good. Is this a misplaced concern?

I guess my question to you all is - What do you think is most importiant:

A) Even polar response
B) Even power response
C) Driver being in phase at crossover (i.e. forget a phase quadrature design)

Thanks!
