Apologies in advance for OMG DESPERATE troubleshooting post, but I've finally got this whole project finished and sure enough the LAST speaker of the set is giving me an issue, and sure enough it has to be a weird one, and sure enough I've gone and gotten overconfident and soldered everything in place so any troubleshooting is going to take hours.
Because of that last point I'm making this post to see if anyone has experienced something similar, so hopefully I can start in the right place. The Problem: The speaker works fine and sounds great, but when I turn it all the way up, the amp goes into protection for brief moments coinciding with a particular sound in a song. Some facts: This is the third of a set of three speakers (left, right, and center) that are all electrically identical. Same drivers and crossover. The other two work perfectly. Some questions: Could this at all be a crossover problem? It seems to work and sound perfectly fine until that one note hits, and only when it's cranked up. What in a passive crossover could cause that sort of behavior, if anything? The crossover consists of a 2nd order filter at about 800hz, a impedance correction circuit on each driver, and a notch filter on the tweeter. Just fishing to see if anyone has had a similar problem to see what others have found. |

Checks the values on the notches and zobels. Especially the notches. I think you'll find the problem there.

What kind of note is it? low bass, high treble, vocals?
Have you tried swapping speakers? are you sure it's that specific speaker/enclosure? What kind of design is it,Sounds like it's a 2-way setup? |

AAAHAHHAHA
and sure enough, it's because of something really retarded that I did. I wired the drivers to the amp side of the crossover, and the amp to the driver side o__o I'm rather suprised it worked as decently as it did... |

Is there a zobel on the output of the amp? It could be that the amp is going into oscillation, though how a particular note would trigger this I'm unsure.
