Hi everyone !
Can someone suggest a tweeter for my peerless 830657, I have a bunch of them sitting in the garage. I am now planning to build a pair of cheapy MTM or possibly something like MTM-MM. Better yet, does anyone know of any proven project plan with this Peerless driver? Thanks in advance... |

I made one peeless mtm but with 830656 drivers matched with a tweeter Seas 27 TBFC/G; Fx 1.7khz, quite simple x-over, these drivers ar easy to work with, I guess 830657 should be as simple to filter. Sorry, in french but pictures are without frontiers, isn't it?

I don't recommend the TB Ceramic tweeter. I tested several and the breakup that they show to be above 20Khz we measured to be below 17Khz. Also, the cone seems to be anodized Aluminum, not ceramic. Though, I suppose you could technically call the very thin coating of Aluminum oxide a "ceramic" it seems far from honest.
The smaller of the two peerless woofers mentioned in this thread so far looks like it has an easier response to work with IMHO. The larger one seems decent, just a little trickier to make the crossover, perhaps? |

Thanks guys !
Would the Vifa D27tg4506 be a good choice to mate with the peerless 830657in MTM+MM configuration ? At a freaken $37.25/ea plus tax at Solen in Montreal, Canada.... I did some research on some Peerless HDS driver and found the "Elsinore Project" I can't believe the Elsinore could worth as much as 20 grands ! Take a look : www.customanalogue.com/.../elsinore_index.htm Anyway, my SLS 830657 do indeed have the same HDS 830875 look (well kind of...except the cone and cast frame...) but the response graph, well...look almost the same...you see that the thing with Peerless speaker, is that no matter if it is the HDS with nomex cone or the cheapest SLS with paper coated cone, you still get great perfomance driver. So I think I am going to try to build one of those really cheap Elsinore clone with the SLS driver and see how it will sound. Having say that, here is a begging request for someone with expertise in filtration of frequency. Could you be kind enough to model one up for suggestion ? Thanks in advance !!! |
