Hello all, and particularly fellow Indians,
I did a search but the results are quite confusing and difficult to wade through. At this time, I am looking to buy 4 nos. 8" bass/mid-range drivers. They will be used in a two way cabinet, two 8" drivers per cabinet, mounted below the tweeters (not MTM). I happen to have a few pairs of unmarked tweeters here... will experiment to see which ones (if any) work best with the woofers i buy. Sorry, I am not a severe 'parameters' guy... more happy-go-lucky, and it has worked well for me, in the past. I plan to get dayton passive crossovers from partsexpress (maybe 2.5 KHz crossover point, on a whim) and see how it works out with the tweeters i have here. My budget is Rs. 1,000/driver (total Rs. 4000/-)... i know its pittance by international standards, but there are 8" drivers available at 1/4th the price here in ritchie street... was wondering if i can get anything of superior quality anywhere around the metros in india... i can have one of my friends bring it down for me. Please know that i am no audiophile, and i am not presently interested in the ultimate best. I just know that almost any big box with 2 nos 8" drivers and a tweeter sounds better to me than almost any branded system i can buy off the shelf. So pointers to *any* 8" drivers around the price point are welcome... they just need to be better that the Rs. 200/- drivers i can randomly buy from ritchie street. thanks, js iyer. |

Chaudhary Trading is the place to go in Mumbai.
I've bought some good no-name (probably OEM) drivers from him, but 1000 per driver is low even by Indian standards. Chaudhary has good stuff but at a higher price. http://www.pandaaudioindia.com/4.htm |

there are 8 inch peerless woofers and 1 inch dome tweeters available in ritchie street. I intend to use them in my two way project which i intend to start soon. I have already used peerless dome tweeters and they are much better than anything avlbl in chennai market

Chaudry used to sell Peerless India drviers many years ago. These were quite good but even then they were Rs. 2K each.

He knows nothing about technical details like impedance, etc., so take a multimeter along with you. It also helps if you speak Hindi or take somebody who speaks Hindi if you want to negotiate a price-break. |
