Default Jaycar and Vifa (for the Aussies and Kiwis)

I'm getting reasonably strong rumours that Jaycar will be dumping its "Response" range of drivers (which at the moment seem to be from HiVi) and switching back to carryiing some Vifa drivers. Which ones? unknown at the moment

Has anyone else heard this rumour? Have more info ?

It's hard to know what they've got, their website is such a mess, - for the last few months all speakers seem to end up as 'car speakers' or 'car subwoofers'....

Well hopefully they carry/rebadge those BC lines. Seems like cheap and great drivers.

I saw the guys in Thomastown a few days ago, I didn't hear anything.
Maybe I should buy a few of those cheap paper 8inh while they are available, it is the only driver in the current line-up I think is worth while

If you mean the CW2196, I think I found the manufacturer:
http://www.cn-speaker.com/ebusiness/...productid=1476

Sadly, the site appears to have been hacked and the specs don't show up.

A friend ordered 16 of the 8" HiVi yellow woofers, all had problems with air movement causing movement inside the driver, very wrong. Possibly a batch problem.

I'd like to see it, if it happens all the better. Jaycar if your reading this, Get back to being the DIYers 'go to'. If it wasn't for Jaycar, I probably would not have discovered DIYing.

yep, way back when they carried the old Vifa P17WJ etc.

I did benefit greatly when they stopped selling Vifas... picked up all but a couple of of the P11WH in Gumby for $20 each

not much worth grabbing in a sell-out at the moment though .

Yes I got all the drivers and the crossover in my 3 ways from Jaycar. Phillips Dome mids and tweeters came at standard price (and there were a lot of other mids and tweeters over the years as well, Tweeters because I kept blowing them until I found out about polyswitches.... Mids because I started with some of their sealed back poly's which were extremely ordinary (blew a few of those too)... I used to get a lot of requests to bring my system to partys and invariably someone cranked it past the safe line clearly marked on the amp

My Vifa M26WR-09-08's I got the last pair in Sydney I believe at about 1/2 price.

I too have learnt a lot from drivers and components purchased from Jaycar

Tony.

"$20 each"

Andy that's almost unbelievable, I had to pay $35-

I still think we need to organise a DIY group buy of a 1000 units for OEM prices
