Default Midrange choice for 3-way

http://www.madisound.com/catalog/pro...oducts_id=8180

http://www.madisound.com/catalog/pro...oducts_id=1315

I have two different options for midrange unit. Described above.
My system will be 3-way: side mounted woofer (2 of them), 2 midranges and tweeter. Woofer-midrange XO will be very low, because there is side mounted woofer. Approximately 120-180Hz, so thats why I need good performing midrange in this area. My question would be - wich one of these two midranges would mach better with my requirements.

But you better use a 7" driver like the ER18 to handle better the 180Hz-2000Hz range.

Of the two, the ER15 has a higher Xmax which means it may be less stressed than the other part. Even better would be to use two of them, especially if you plan to drive these speakers hard.

I'll second to Jerome. Below 200 Hz is quite low for Mid.

Yes, I am planning to use 2 midrange units.
Intresing fact is that I was testing here Vifa P13 and PL14.
They both have same xmax =4mm, P13 Fs=60Hz, PL14 lower=45Hz.
And here came a big difference in sound. P13 didnt have bass at all, so it just does not play so low. My question would be - can I only consider Xmax?
When we take those Seas drivers, then MCA shows on 200Hz about 90db, but Et only 83db?

Am I on wrong way?

Also consider Qts
A small driver with low Qts rolls off very early

With side mounted woofers I would cross VERY low, not to get too much phase issues
But I have no experience with such
I would use midwoofers that manage at least 100hz, and go the full route with no low xo(highpass)
I would maybe consider the underhung 6"TB, tho its only 4ohm, so only one driver

Personally I might consider to use a couple more of the 6" TB for lowend, actively crossed around 300hz, and front mounted ofcourse
THAT would naturally lead to consider a genuine 4-5" dedicated midrange driver
I might actually do it, if I didnt have other project going

Ditto. Even low-crossed, I still dont like side woofers.
A V frontal shape with 3 woofers one frontal and two at 30° or such would have less issues and you could play with passives and different XO points.

All IMHO and just some ideas (seen in good speakers).

I'll would take the MMTMM sealed or half opened with flow resist and add 2x10'' or 2x12'' side firing W.
XO below 100 Hz.

Well, thank you very much!
I do not know how does 2x8" Dayton audoi sounds in my boxes, but we will see. I was also considering maybe 2x10"...but got some responce that 10" is not so fast..and maybe the bass are not very accurate. So thats why I decided 2x8"...vented 80L box.
