Hello
Got me a B&W Matrix 804 from fleabay. I was wondering if anyone on here can help me diagnose the problem: At low bass , one of the speaker produces a scracthy sound that lasted less than a second. It occurs during a low bass sound, especially with music (hard rock) with lots of drummings and lower bass. I'm sure I'll get reprimand on this too, the speakers are currently driven by a Sony STR 5800. Any recommedation on an amp I should be looking for? And the tweeters are missing by the way. thank you for your expertise! j |

sounds like a rubbing voice coil. probably the black poly one...though it could be the kevlar one.
Do you know how to test for that? Just push in the woofer (gently) with no music playing and see if you hear/feel any friction. If you do, contact a local (to you) B+W dealer about getting a replacement which will most likely be expensive for what you get. |
