I've been searching the stores for a cheap LC Meter & I have found a couple.
The trouble is these meters only measure inductance from 2mH upwards, and I want to build some inductors with values of around 0.6 to 0.9 mH. Do any Aussies know where a suitable meter can be purchased in our fair land at a reasonable price? Thanks Steve |

How about buying a Woofer Tester?
It's good at measuring inductors. And of course it's a driver impedance tester, so if you keep building speakers, you'll need it anyway. Search "WT3" in Parts Express. |

Same boat, built this. If you can solder you'll be fine. |

I have seen one Jaycar model, cat # QM 1324, Inductance, capacitance, Freq, $49 95, but the inductance starts from 20mH up. If you can see another jaycar model suitable, post the cat#, thanks. Another altronics model was about the same price but started at 2.0mH up. >>>How about buying a Woofer Tester?<< Doesn't measure capacitance! |

I had that jaycar meter.
Threw it out after two weeks. Slow and very unreliable. EDIT, yup, very easy. Will take some pics if you like. |

Ok, here's an internal shot. So simple. IGNORE the yellow wires. The lcd module has a backlight built in, but is not used in the kit. I like to see what I'm reading in all lighting so I've wired up these back lights. |

Yes, looks easy enough. Pity though it only measures up to 0.8uf.
But the inductance range is good. |
