Unhappy bass problem

I have a problem with the bass being louder on one side of my room. My room is 15' X 16'. The ceiling is tapered from 8' to 10'. The corners of the front wall are on a 45 degree angle- 6 foot across. The room is set-up to be very soft with carpet on the floor, acoustical lay-in ceiling, and foam padding on all walls. I have tried everything I know to correct this problem. The woofers have been placed in all different positions and corners. I would appreciate any help.

Thanks, John

Have you tried to model your room? The FRD site has a room modelling tool which I found to be very accurate. You can model one boundary at a time and see the effects then all boundaries.

First, do you have any measurements or is this just subjective? If it's subjective then I would suggest that it's a mode that is excited and is louder on that side of the room. Try using multiple subs, but better yet, get some measurements and then try multiple subs.

Do you think you have a problem of sympathy/reflection at the dominant frequency of the room, w/ceiling, and with the speakers ressonance? And is (it) louder on the higher side of it?
:reflection from ceiling, like in a concert hall

Default Re: bass problem

Hello,

I suspect the problem comes from the room.

Have you tried dipole bass already?

Default Bass problems

You have uneven bass coverage it seems , due to multiple bass sources far apart. I suggest trying an experiment by placing all your bass radiating speakers close together at point I think this will improve matters. It would be best in any case to stick to single point sources siutably rolled off and on in the bass.

Five posts and five different ideas on how to solve the problem. If i were new here, i would be confused now.

As a rule of thump, you can assume that "gedlee is allways right".
