Greetings, I have been thinking about this for a while, could you use two drivers in the h frame clamshelled and wired out of phase, and would it be worth it. If it seems like a worthwhile thing to do, ( i guess less distortion, greater sensitivity) would someone whose name begins with M and ends in artin J King care to simulate it Or anyone else for that matter. The depth would have to be increased slightly so the magnets of the alphas didn't stick out the end of the H frame. I'm interested to hear what you all think

are you talking about a ripole? I was about to try one with a pair of Alpha15a, but then bought other drivers. The point of a ripole is to use less space than an h-frame, but the Alphas are already fairly large, so I thought it a little pointless. I found a smaller driver (12"), cheaper, with output equal to two Alpha15's. Once I get some time, I'll measure and post.

Old thread I know, but same question. Would clam-shelling two alpha 15s give any advantage in a H-frame? Are these high Qts drivers even suitable for isobaric loading?
They may be some force cancellation at least, and perhaps the weak magnets lend themselves to this method? Any ideas please. |
