there's a bit of forced perspective going on, too. If you look closely, the speaker horn is very much right in front of the camera. The flare on the speaker is probably only about 6" across and a few feet from his ear.

From the shadow it looks to be sitting right above his shoulder, maybe ~8" from his head. To me the horn mouth looks to be ~10" in diameter.

That's about what I got from it, too.
