Default Loads of action over at Scanspeak

Not only have they separated from Tymphany, but check out all their new drivers!
Underhung woofers, fibreglass mids, dome mids, 19mm tweeters, even a beryllium tweeter.

Disappointed though that there isnt more in the 8", 10" and 12" woofer range.

Well that is interesting. Not much new other than teh Dsicovery woofers, but more pulled in other Tymphany lines? Looks like they pulled in the Vifa dome mid and DX and XT tweeters? And the Peerless HDS 810921 is now Scanspeak? Didn't know they built that tweeter since 2005 either.

This "Discovery" line is indeed interesting. Includes some Vifa tweeters, the 810921, and a handful of fibreglass cone woofers.

The Peerless and Vifa drivers haven't been removed from Tymphany's site, and I don't see any stores listing them as Scan-Speak, so we'll see how this all pans out. As long as they don't start jacking up the price of the Peerless and Vifa drivers because they carry the Scan-Speak name, I'm fine with it.

Interesting, I noted that most of their drivers are 4 ohm now. Car audio or high current amps need only apply.

There is an equal amount of 4 Ohm woofers as 8 Ohm, if not more 8 ohm woofers. There are more 4 ohm midrange drivers, but this is not out of the ordinary as moving to a 4 ohm midrange partially makes up for the poor sensitivity, making the driver more useful.

There are a fair bit of 4 ohm tweeters, but I don't think that is a problem for most amplifiers. In any case, if you are in the market for Scan-Speak speakers, I would hope that your amp can handle a 4 Ohm load.

Thanks but Scan Mids and tweets are what I look at mostly, Subs/woofers and even midbass are a little rich for me... compared to vifa, peerless and some of the newer asian offerings. YMMV

It's a very good news to see Peerless, Vifa products in scan-speak line. In my opinion, scan-speak should keep a very good quality control on these products ?
