Hi all.
First poster here; joined the forum as I've just bought a chip-amp kit which I'm itching to dip my soldering iron into.

Am about to go on a 4 week holiday and currently gathering reading material.

Wonder if anyone could recommend a good readable book on speaker design?

I'm interested in building a floor-standing speaker enclosure for a full-range driver and wouldn't mind understanding the fundamentals before I start. Quite intrigued by both the horn and bass-reflex designs.

Looking for recommended reclining material.

You can get a good education on Martin King's website: http://www.quarter-wave.com/

I bought these at the McGraw Hill bookstore in the 1970's:

Hi Guys.
Thanks very much for the suggestions.

Transmission lines; now there's something I hadn't even heard of before! Thanks for the pointer, that does sound like a great concept for a beginners floorstander.

After posting I stumbled across this thread: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread/t-10617.html

In the end I went for Weem's "Designing, Building and Testing" as I really am just looking for an introduction to the basics.

I'll be reading each of the links you recommended, and will likely follow up with the "Design Cookbook", once I have a grasp of the basics.

Thanks once again for your help.
