I was wondering how crossovers should be mounted, in particular in small monitors (in my case Zaph's Bargain Mini ZBM4). In this image, it's clear that he first lays the damping and so the crossover must go on top of the damping (unless he places the crossover externally, but that doesn't seem the case since there is only one set of speaker terminals on the inside). However, most crossovers I've seen have their electronics laid out on a thin piece of hard board. I would think that if you put this on top of the damping, it will surely cause reflections, which is the whole point of using damping. On the other hand, if the crossover were to be placed underneath the damping, that would change the cabinet dimensions? Anyway, any advice?
