I am intending to build some high end monitors around the new Hypex AS2.100 DSP Active Loudspeaker Controller.
This is a two channel (100w per channel / 4 ohms) Class-D plate amp with a user programmable DSP (Digital Signal Processor) built in. I will use one unit per monitor, so am aiming for a 2 way design, although I could be talked into a D'Appolito design if it looked really good. Size is important also, the smaller the better, but I also like strong extended bass so this is going to be an area of tradeoffs! (that said with the DSP I can do some very aggressive lf cut offs to stop over excursion). I have some pretty much un-used Dynaudio drivers:- 6 17W75's 2 15W75's 5 Esotec D-260's Now these are all 10 years old, so I am sure technology has moved on - but that said they weren't cheap! So perhaps should be considered... I would welcome any thoughts and ideas! Thanks in advance, Ben |

a 2.5 way using the 17W75's & D-260's looks good...should give you plenty of bass in a reasonable sized cab Edit: I retract, a quick sim in Unibox shows the 17W75's are Hi Q drivers, OB may be the way to go... or use them a mids in a 3-way??? OTOH, the 15W75s look good in a 25L cab tuned to the mid 40s...
