Default Paverpol, the other mod podge/puzzlecoat

Found it today in a painters shop. Only E 12,95 for 1/2 a killo and even got a
discount as we agreed I was an artist It's made in 26 colours.

Being that it dries 'rock hard' might that lower the cone breakup frequency?

All depends on the speaker and what you want to achieve I guess.
As paper damps more and stiffer materials less some might benefit
and some might not. I'll try it on some to see what happens
A light coating will keep some of the paper damping and change
the breakup points either to the bad or the good side.

I'll do some measurements before and after but even then, this again
depends on the speaker used, damping material, x-over etc.

It could be useful in some applications. Something i tend to avoid is stuff that dries stiff, and the rock hard has me concerned. To me that means resonant peak, even if there wasn't one, but depending on other physical properties (how much mass is added) would push a resoanance up in frequency. Might be useful in subbs.

Default Re: Paverpol, the other mod podge/puzzlecoat

modpodge/puzzlekoat is a PVA compound that remains flexible after drying.

That's why this one is 'the other' It does dry up quite hard but I would not
call it rock hard right now. Let's see in a few days. And indeed might be useful
on subs and older speakers in a three way when you can avoid breakup at
the x-over level.

Still quite flexible and not rockhard at all. Feels a bit rubbery even and I can
poke a finger through the basket, press really hard up to the point the voicecoil
wants to break out and it still comes back in it's original form. No sign of cracking
where the finger poked even when pressed hard. Flexing part of the cone really
hard with one inch between two fingers does not bother it as well. Makes for
one extremely childproof speaker
