Hello Everyone,
I've long been attempting to source a 3" to 3 1/2" high end coaxial driver to meet the needs of my application, a new small satellite design. I've searched this a hundred times and believe I'm aware of most everything available, but I thought I'd put the question out to the board and see if there's something else to discover. Ideally, the unit should have a smaller, neodymium motor structure and very high end tweeter. Drivers with polymer tweeters typical of car audio would not be of interest. Thanks and looking forward to any new finds. -Luca |

Do you know about this Tang Band coax?
Tang Band W3-1723SA 3" Coaxial Midrange at Parts Express I suppose the 4inch Vifa coax at Apex Jr is too big? |

Yes, I'm familiar with the TBs but not the Vifas. These are excellent suggestions! Others? If only the Vifas were a tad smaller, they might have been perfect. They must also work in a small sealed enclosure. The TBs have such a large magnet assembly, devouring internal volume.

Not all the TBs have a big magnet. This bamboo fiber TB looks like it has a decent top end, even accounting for TB's optimistic graphs. I'm saving up for it, as I had nice results with a W3-881S in a center channel.

Have you contacted anyone at MISCO? Don't look at the stuff they have on their site, call up an engineer and tell them what you need. More than likely they do.
(i have no financial or personal stake in the performance of misco) |

Steve,
It's these you're referring to, yes? I really can't change my parameters to fit 3 7/8ths, but it is so close, I may buy just for experimentation. How will they do in a sealed enclosure? Is that measurement to the outermost edges? Rare to find anything without holes drilled in the frame all ready, and that's a plus! Thx -Luca |

They might be too expensive, but you could source KEF's 3" Uni-Q drivers.

Why do you need a 3" coaxial? There are several drivers that size that will reach the tweeter range just fine such as the Fostex FF85K for example.
