Question Series or parallel capacitor for bass X-over

Aside from the obvious change in crossover point, what are the advantages/disadvantages of having a capacitor either in series with the inductor or in parallel with the load (Bass driver)?

The figures I am getting are about 400Hz crossover with a 5mH coil and a 150uF cap in series into an 8ohm load, as opposed to 250Hz with the cap in parallel with the load.

Many thank's,

Chris.

With cap placed correctly in paralel it lowers impedance/lessens the rise, making the inductor work more effectively

Cap placed in series will form a 1.order highpass, taking away the low bass
In your situation it will probably dampen bass
