Default Vifa PL14 comments?!

I did all research and search also in this forum about Vifa PL14.
I am looking some comments about this driver, especially comparisons with other drivers, how does it sound for ears?!
How musical, neutral is it...all words..good or bad are very welcome!

I am planning to use it 3-way, lower XO point 150-200Hz.

ps! sounding a bit better than old P13 ( just playing in air)

not heard, but I am a vifa fan, I have a p13wh.

use it in a 3 way, with 2x pl26 8 ohm bass in a 120 litre sealed box, separate box on top, with scanspeak 9300 treble, and the pl14

4th order acoustic LR filters.

Thanks! But I am already searched all Internet.. so I am familiar with this project.

My biggest interest is, can I build very high quality speaker(high end) with PL 14?! Is it a lot worse than SS or can be very competitive.

I've used both the Vifa PL14 and Scanspeak 15W8535K00/K01 in two-way configurations, with a Vifa XT25 tweeter. The Vifa is not a bad performer, it shares a lot of characteristics with the Scanspeak, however it has less extension/bass performance and misses some midband resolution. I think that by using the driver in a 3way configuration you will come closer to the performance of the Scanspeak (less IMD distortion from lower frequencies).

All in all it is not a bad driver and you can get very good (if not high end) results when used properly. Do not get me wrong the Scanspeak IS better (at a cost $$$$).

If you not have bought the driver already, I would really consider the Seas ER15RLY, IMHO its the better driver over the Vifa (I designed a nice 3way with the Seas). You can also look at the SB acoustic drivers, but I've not used that driver, so I cannot comment on the performance/sound.

Thank you for very good answer! I have bought PL14, but your reply made things more clear...SS should be better, even if you take the price..they cannot produce average drivers high price tag on it. I think I should start using vifa, seas drivers before goind very high drivers. My knowledge about crossover are very limited, so here the real work will begin. I will buy Seas drivers also, so later I can compare Vifa or Seas...how they sound to my ears. Sound is always subjective

Weel, that case is intresting. I bought them from partsexpress and got with very reasonalbe price!

I have been listening them 2 weeks now, just in the air with 810921 tweeter, crossed 1 order about 2700. And they sound very good, it even has some strenght of bass (compare PH13), it is more detail, more natural, clear and these drivers looks like they can work very well togehter(which is most important). PH13 didnt work so well with 810921....I am waiting to install them in cabinet, add woofer and start working with crossover.
So I definetly prefer PL14...

Thats for sure!
It is always imagination when you listen and different people listen music different way. So, I am right now satisfied with PL14 sound, I can compare them with PH13 and also Audax AM130..I think audax and pl14 are quite close. They both play better bass, than ph13, but when we consider integration with 810921, then this combination right now works very well. Music comes from area, not splitted between midrange and tweeter....my englis is not perfect.

And good point is that I am using Vishay caps for tweeter (they should be VERY good, but quite unknown in diy auido market).
