The NHT 3.3 has a side firing woofer and crosses over at 100 Hz.
Looking at a Vifa 8" response chart-half your diameter-60 degrees off axis seems to be an issue even at 500 Hz.
Considering where the NHT crosses over with it's 12 inch, and the fact that you want dispersion of over 90 degrees, I would recommend keeping the crossover for a side firing Tempest under 100 Hz.
