Default Tweeter problems - how to identify

Hello,

I recently acquired a pair of Proac floorstanders, and one of the tweeter seems to have problems.

It clearly plays at a lower volume than the other one, about 5dB measured.

I do not seem to note distortion, but its hard to tell.

I removed it from the baffle and measured it, it reads the same 4.8 ohms that the good one does. I did not disconnected it from the XO as it has soldered connections on both ends.

How can i make sure that infact the tweeter is in failure, and not some component on the XO ? The XO is of dificult access, i was hoping the tweeter was the source of the problem.

Also, the model is ProAc 3.5 . It has a 1" dome, some say its like the SS D2905/9900 driver but it sures look diferent. I think ProAc has their drivers spec made to their designs.

Hope someone can chime in.
Thanks
Filipe

You should exchange the drivers. The right tweeter in the left enclosure and the left tweeter in the right enclosure.
If the problem moves with the tweeter then you'll know...
