Yes I should have known ...
but it was on sale and she wanted it ... but I can't stand the awful boomy sound it makes Even with the subwoofer turned right down and in plain stereo mode it sounds just awful. It's 100% OK through headphones though so it's clearly a speaker issue. I was wondering if anyone might have had a go at tweaking one of these things --- some damping material in the "tubes" or so-called "wave guides" perhaps??? I've tried hooking up my Energy 100s to the headphone output - and they sound OK, but not enough volume (no doubt there'll be a resitor in line with the signal to the h/phone outlet).

try putting a couple of bricks on top of the sub (with say a folded teatowel to protect it.)
