Default Crossover upgrade question

I'm wanting to replace some ferrite cores in a speaker crossover with air cores. The air cores will have higher resistance. In the crossover are resistors placed before the inductors. If those resistors are 4ohms and the extra resistance of the air cores is 2ohms, can I just pop the air cores in with and replace the resistors by 2ohm varieties?

Thanks in advance.

Tom

If I'm reading your post right, you have a 4 ohm resistor in series with an inductor. The inductor's DC resistance is increasing by 2 ohms by changing from ferrite core to air core.

Yes, in this case you could decrease the series resistor by 2 ohms to keep everything equal.

Thanks, D, you read me right. My question was essentially: is inductance DCR interchangeable with resistor DCR for an overall DCR.

Hey, where in Saskatchewan are you from? I was born in Regina, raised in Estevan.
