I would appreciate a little help from some of the experts around here.
I bought a pair of Zaph-designed speakers (Seas all-metal) on ebay for a decent price. The cabinets were poorly constructed (ugly, poorly painted mdf). My plan was to remove the speakers and crossovers and put them into a new cabinet. Unfortunately, the workmanship of the crossovers was as poor as the cabinets. They're basically a bunch of wires twisted together. Some of them have come apart and they're not really on any sort of board (a couple of components are zip-tied, but barely). Would anyone be willing to have me ship the components and have them properly assembled? BTW, I'm in the Atlanta area. Thanks in advance. |

I don't think emailing Zaph is going to accomplish anything, is this the Seas L18 / Seas 27TBFCG design? There is only 7 components, just get a 1/4 board and solder them together; shouldn't be difficult.

i only suggested that as a way for him to get a picture of what it should look like properly wired since he has no idea how it is supposed to look. why not contact the designer of it.

mostly because he doesnt advertise his email as he is not interested in answering untold amount of questions on his designs. There are actually pretty detailed pics and even a drawing of the XO on this design, something that he did not provid in newer designs

I'm going to take a pic of the crossover the way it is now and I think I can better demonstrate my problem. I'm not yet familiar with how to read a crossover schematic. I just wanted to focus on the speaker enclosure and have a ready made crossover. My mistake. |

I bought Fountek FW168 midbass drivers and Seas 27TBFCG tweeters to build 2-way speakers.
I haven't measured the midbass, but think Zaph has measured it's response well. (I've already listened it without enclosure.) Can I use Zaph's L18/27TBFCG crossover (http://zaphaudio.com/audio-speaker17.html) because of the similarity of the two aluminum cone midbass drivers (FW168 & L18)? (I think it would work, and just have to finetune the tweeter L-pad later.) ![]()
