Just stumbled upon this thread. I agree completely with Lynn, nice experiments and good results! Is there any development towards a complete speaker?

Hey, great stuff! Seems that "econowave" CD design could get use of added midrange on top to better dispersion of midrange and avoid tweeters of crossing too low involving negative side effects. Do you find your results satisfactory or planning to move on with further research?

Default Update thread please

Any updates, designs or new info re: this thread?

The TC9FD18 driver begs to be used as a cardioid.

Peerless by Tymphany TC9FD18-08 3-1/2" Full Range Paper Cone Woofer

It is used as such in this speaker which is an inexpensive Linkwitz clone.

And see this for the original.

LXmini Challenge

It would be nice to know if the cardioid behavior can be simplified or improved (like for a flat baffle) with treatment like the midbass in the DQ-10 with a felt cover (see second pic)

or the mid in the Gradient Helsinki 1.5

Helsinki 1.5

I ask because the confusion in this thread has not yet been resolved (no posts or designs in 6 years) and it would be interesting to build upon what has been learned in all that time.
