Last year, Nelson Pass wrote about the SEAS Exotic:
"I have a pair of these and they are truly excellent. Overall they don't really belong in the Lowther/Feastrex camp. I think of them more as super versions of the Jordan J92s (which I like a lot), with the ability to handle higher power, more linear excursion, and of course a larger cone surface to take a larger bite at low frequencies. They do not have the sensitivity of the Lowther/Feastrex, and want more power and damping than the typical SET, which does not make them the darling of the traditional full range camp." I've been writing to Kloss (John Kalinowski) about a sealed box implementation of the SEAS Exotic and how it performs differently from a Lowther-based RLH design like the Alerion. I value John's opinion a great deal but I'm wondering if anyone else has relevant experience to contribute. Following from Nelson's comments above, are their any areas where an RLH DX-55 speaker might perform better or at least differently in an area that some value? And without intending to confuse the issue, I wonder whether anyone has experience yet with the new DX-65. |
