I'm going to try changing my 3 way speaker to a 4 way, and want a 2 inch driver that can cover from 1k to 3k with no problems - in fact I'd prefer it to be flat from say 700Hz to 4k. I've bought a couple of peerless 830985 drivers from madisound, and they look promising - but they are only 86dB/2.83V/1m sensitive, which is lower than my 8" midrange and 1" tweeter. So I'm wondering if anyone can suggest any higher sensitivity drivers, under 3". The design is currently all active, so being less sensitive is okay for now, but I want to eventually simplify things. The other 'requirement' is that it be suitable for open baffle use - aka, no dome drivers (with sealed backs).
Any ideas?

An open-backed 2"? Breathing problems right there.

I remember an open back dome midrange that got an excellent Test in Hobby Hifi. It was a no name device sold by Intertechnik, 4 Ohm (for car use).
