Question Peerless tweeters (what model!)

Hi,

I am looking for an old model peerless tweeters but cant seem to find information about them. Maybe someone on the forum can tell me what model they are, and maybe where i van find them.

I know they are out of production so i am also considering an alternative, closest i could find was the peerless DT-105H but since i dont know the characteristics i cant be sure.

Thanx !

Hi,

I know those Peerless KO10DT tweeters intimately, the top end is
not good at all and a modern tweeter will likely work much better.

The size is very similar to the ubiquitous 12cm x 9cm Audax.

Tnx for the info,

I didnt know the tweeter didn't perform well at the top range, shape at the moment isn't really a problem since i am building the speaker myself.

I do have a Kef t27 so that might be an option, is there another tweeter u would recommend in stead of the Peerless ?

Hi,

What speakers are you building ? The T27 may or may not suit.

FWIW the soft domes of that period were in breakup mode in
the top octave, with a treble rise being very common, especially
in tweeters left over from a selection process for manafacturers.

sreten,

I am building a speaker (3way) based on :
* Kef b200 SP1039 (housing as TL based on this speaker)
* Peerless M122
* tweeter (original design was with the peerless tweeter)

I am using a Visaton filter VS-HW3/120NG 8

Hi,

That visaton crossover looks dreadful.

http://www.d-s-t.com.au/data/Peerless/821615.pdf

Decent enough midrange but needs crossing over high.
Will need to be severely slugged volume wise to match a B200.
The T27 should work absolutely fine with it.

Not all B200's are the same, the SP1039 has a monster magnet.

Should be fine if you model and build your crossover correctly.

I'm a noob on crossovers and speaker design overall, ill start with what i have atm (includes the Vistaton filter) and start looking into building a crossover that matches the unites better.
