'exotic' techniques for absorbing the mid backwave (and bass)

Always wondered what effect progressive layering of light to denser damping materials would have? Anything useful?

Yes. That is how i damp my mid TLs. This because instead of trying to get a bit more bass we are trying to absorb everything.

I think in the near future I will have to bite the bullet and make up a few test boxes. Will try a bit of nearfield measuring as well just to see what is what, but my main interest will simply be to have a listen.

Before I build any of these more complex ones, I may come back for 'approval' of dimensions etc, no point in testing something completely wrong eh?

If it gets the approval, then I will build and test them and report back. Worst result is that the complex ones will not be worth the effort but fingers crossed that somehow somewhere there are nice gains to be had.
