Very happy with current speakers for critical stereo listening (seas excel's) but I'd like some suggestions for a full range higher spl capable loudspeaker for the occasional 'crank it up session' or movie. I have no particular design constraints including size or $ just to say the higher the SQ the better. I have heaps of sub power but I'd like to only need them for 40Hz down.
I have thought a 15" coaxial could be cool but cant find a known design. |

Are you asking for a high SPL design with a 15''coaxial?
http://www.users.on.net/~richard.norrish/Autograph/ IF you have the right corners...and lots of patience...and resilience... BTW, which coaxial? Cheers, M

The following thread on AVS was one where we did some in depth discussion on high efficiency systems awhile back. Many ended up building systems using TD12's or TD15's. Throughout the thread we ended up designing a new 6.5" high efficiency driver that is now almost ready for production. The PHL mids are the other fairly common option.
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1069020 For tweeters you can look at something like the RAAL ribbons, Fountek NeoPro5i, or go to a compression driver on a waveguide. The waveguides that Earl Geddes is doing are probably the best option currently if you're looking to go that route. We have several people who have expressed interest in mating them with our TD woofers. John |
