Default SB Acoustic & Dayton

hello all,

I am currently researching parts to build myself some bookshelf speakers for my computer desk. I already have sets for every other setup; home theater (3-way vifa and tang band) & stereo (2-way vifa and Usher).

I am looking at:
SB Acoustic Tweeter (http://solen.ca/pdf/sb/sb25stcc0004.pdf)
Dayton 4" Reference Woofer (http://solen.ca/pdf/dayton/RS100-4.pdf)

Zaph Audio (www.zaphaudio.com) has the specs on both of the drivers and the specs and distortion measures seem quite reasonable.

I want to keep the speakers on the small side, i will be using a powered 8" TB woofer (I was one lying around from a previous project).

I know from previous posts and reviews that the dayton reference line seems to have very good performance, but haven't heard anything about SB Acoustic, aside from seeing the specs.

Input is greatly appreciated as to crossover suggestions, and how the dayton and sb acoustic drivers hold up to their competition.

don

Default look and the silverflute 5 1/4 8ohm

go http://ccs.exl.info/calc_cr.html#second use a linkwitz riley second order at 2500
box volume .65 FT^3 For the silvler flute
3/4 in acousitic foam
This is a good starting point but you will still have to do sound test and port size adjustment 1 1/2 dia
and you have to remember to reverse the polarity hook up on the tweeter

Hi,

Or then again do not do the above. with all due respect your clueless.

http://www.rjbaudio.com/Microbe/microbe.html
http://www.rjbaudio.com/Microbe%20SE/microbe%20SE.html

Shows the sort of thing to do, an elliptical (1st order and notch)
crossover on the bass /mid to approximate 4th order L/R acoustic,
and 2nd or 3rd order + attenuation on the tweeter to approximate
again 4th order L/R acoustic. Seeing its 4th order L/R the tweeter
polarity is not reversed, some assymetry can be built in to allow
for the driver offsets, i.e. manipulate phase at the c/o point.

/sreten.

The microbe is an excellent starting point, but please keep in mind that the mid driver used is the RS125-8. The components will change quite a bit with a 4 ohm nominal driver.

Also check out the Sb Acoustics site for their Eka 2-way

http://www.sbacoustics.com/specprodu...0Way%20Speaker

The Pdf has the crossover design that uses that tweeter.

It will be a bit different form the tang band used in the microbe.

Default Streten I am not clueless

Funny thing the same information that I also use for research are all the same websites you just mentioned too, too draw my information and bring about the possible choices. And Later I will hopefully have my testing set up up and running.
And from what I have read from some of your post that you too still have a lot to learn.
And LIke I said it is just a starting point for a lower cost alternative speaker system. And will have very good sensitivity too.
For I do not have as much money to throw around, since I work parttime and go to school, so keep other things in mind.
You are is not spelled your(possessive), you're (contraction).

Oh yah I will check that other site you posted thank you for some more helpful sites.
