Hi guys. I'm looking for some advice on selling my Dahlquists. I know this is not the forum for selling -- I'm only looking for some advice, as I dont' know much about this area, despite having some decent speakers...
I bought the DQM-7's in 1985, and have lugged them around the country, using them very little. I have to move in a few months and I need to get rid of a lot of things. I intend to downsize to some good powered computer monitors. I popped the cloth covers off the front a couple of weeks ago and saw that the flexible rings (the surrounds) joining the cones on the woofers to the metal had fallen to bits. They still sound good. I know about Regnar. But I can't face all that. My question: do you think that it's plausible to sell them without refoaming? If so, can you suggest a reasonable price for them? A couple of hundred $ ? Zero $ ? I've tried to give them away to friends, but no one is into audio enough to want them. Thanks for any thoughts. |

Be best to fix them before selling them. It would be cheaper to replace those woofers with new ones from MCM than re-foaming them.
But they're more collectors' items these days. You need to find someone who's into vintage audio to get a decent price for them. |

Thanks for the advice, dude. Actually I put an ad on Craig's list but got no nibbles. After a week I did not renew it. They're going to Goodwill...
