Default What to do with some older drivers lying around? Vifas...

I was wondering if someone can point me to link or something that might incorporate these drivers I have lying around waiting for a project...

I have a pair of Vifa P17SJ-00 6 1/2" shielded drivers (I think these are the shielded versions of the famous P17WJ... woofers) and a pair of Vifa XT Ring Radiators for the tweets.

Is there a design somewhere that has been done using these two drivers? I've searched but couldn't really find anything.

Has anyone ever used these in a simple two way ported or sealed system?

If someone has any thoughts I'd love to hear them. Don't have the software to design my own, so I'm looking for something that has been done before so I can shamelessly use the design

Thanks in advance gentlemen!

Default here's a link

Hi,

Here's a link to someone who has made some speakers for a particular home theater application, using the drivers you have.

http://cavx.blogspot.com/2006/09/mar...ects-cavx.html

Note the crossover is probably different than what you might want for a 2 channel pair of speakers.

However, he may have enough knowledge of them to assist in a different application.

Try to run these woofers full range and with single capacitor for tweeter. I would never recommend it with paper or metal cone, but with poly cone it may work pretty well.

Hmmm... I was thinking about that... interesting.
I did try this with the Vifa P13 before and the results were actually quite good but the P13 has NO bass to speak of. Was not acceptable for me.
I didn't think the P17SJ was as smooth as the P13 though which is why I didn't give the fullrange issue much thought.

I might give this a try...

Andy Gs XO won't work with that tweeter, but this interpretation is supposed to work well with that woofer

Vifa XT ring radiators need special attention to XO, can't help there I've never used it

Ted

Has anyone made or folded version of the Argos tapered pipe? Any reason not to?
