Default Tweeter: Seas 91dB or Beyma 95dB?

Cheers.

Which would be the better tweeter for this 4 way diy design:

Woofer 15" [97dB]: Beyma 15B100/R (0-200Hz)
Mid-Bass 8" [95dB]: Beyma 8M60N (200-1000Hz)
Mid [91+91dB]: 2 x Beyma MC115 (1000-4000Hz)
Tweeter: Beyma T2030 (horn, 95dB) or Monitor Audio GR60's tweeter (Seas Excel variation, 91dB)

Why not make the Beyma theme complete and use a TPL150?

Yes, my thought too, and loose the mid domes too

btw, how do you get that 15B100/R to play bass...I have looked at it several times, but it falls like a brick above 50hz, very low Qts
Might want to look at SM115N
But you must be careful not to get too much midbass

Thanks for all the answers.

Regarding the Beyma 15B100R, from WinISDN software I get this excellent response:

28Hz (-6dB = 91dB)
31Hz (-3dB = 94dB)
37Hz (0dB = 97dB)

(Volume: 253L - Tune Fre. 32Hz - VAS 400L - Fs 25Hz)

Replacing the mid-drivers is not an option because I like the sonic result. Using a TPL150 would provide more accuracy but less fun. These mid drivers follow the design on the Proac D100 with double ATC mid drivers. The sound gets much more 3D, natural, and warm. Maybe less audiophile but definitely more musical and pleasant to the ears.

The golden tweeter of the Monitor Audio G60 is truly amazing (dispersion, resolution, extension). The only problem is that it is low sensivity (91dB) and will force me to attenuate the other drivers. Then again, Proac D100 does this to.

I saw a test K&T of dome midranges the beyma dome did distort ad lower frequencies.

The morel EM1308 would be a better choice.

And a tip for good high spl dome tweeter with very flat response 5kHz and up, and not expensive at all.

Monacor dt-25n 95dB 1W/mtr

dt-25n

Good idea! The TPL150 sounds fantastic, and can be crossed over at 1100-1200 Hz without a sweat.

The price of a TPL150= 500 euro

A dt25n cost 24 euro and performs also perfect.

When you can rit of exclusive taste you can save huge amounts of money. And spend more on musik

Helmuth, it is so - Beyma MC115 and 8M60N show some distortion at low frequencies, but I will cross them a little higher (200Hz and 1000Hz, 12dB/oct) to avoid it.

Now, concerning the Monacor dt-25n, I'm sure it is great but from its picture I see the horn is too pronounced (too closed). Data is not available but I'm sure this will make it highly directive (low dispersion).
Low-dispersion tweeters like this are only adequate for one listener that is at the same distance from both tweeters. Also, the listening angle to the tweeter should be low (zero if possible), otherwise that flat response will be gone.
These speakers I'm building are meant for family auditions.

It can be but it is not a real horn IMO and it is to short the high spl is probably the result of some bundling and the neodymium magnet.

It is 1 cm deep this means it only will work as a horn from about 9kHz

For this price it could be worth a try.

Regards, Helmuth
