looking at the first compensation circuit

set R1= speaker impedance at f1- f2 (typically around Re)

L = BSC inductor to give full BSC (6dB)

R2 at higher frequencies provides 6dB cut relative to frequencies before f1 (20logR2/(R1//R2)) i.e. it's an 1/2 voltage divider.



R2 is typically omitted in internal LPF speaker crossovers/mid driver box response and can be seen again as relating to padding of the HPF (tweeter) section.
