The 34mm Audax tweeter used in Meridian M3 (original model is HD13D34H, which is very similar to the current TW034X0) is 8ohm, 93db and has no ferrofluid. This tweeter had excellent reputation in its day and was also used in the BBC LS5/8 and LS5/9 studio monitors. However there have been improvements since, especially in magnet and rear chamber design. A good current tweeter design that comes to mind is the new Scan-Speak D3004/6600 (4ohm, 92.5 db, no ferrofluid). Has anyone tried it or something else in place of the Audax in either the Meridian M3 or the BBC monitors?

I agree that this Audax sounds good overall, but it does seem to have a somewhat annoying peak in the 3-4kHz region that is not corrected in the Meridian M3. I assume the peak is in the Audax and not the Kef B110 woofer, since the xover is active, steep and at 2kHz. BTW, the BBC LS 5/8 was also an active design, but LS5/9 was a passive design with this Audax tweeter.
