Question Three questions for the cognoscenti

Three questions that I cannot find good, definative answers for:
(Perhaps I'm not using the right search terms....)

1) Why a seperate tweeter enclosure (like the swans and the Wharfedale Evo2)? I believe that the designers are taking the tweeter off the baffel....why?

2) Why two mid/woofers? Especially when both use the same XO?
I've seen them in MTM and TMM configurations. I looked for this one and found better off axis performance but is that all?

3) Why the asymetrical placement of speakers on the baffle?

1. Diffraction.
2. Vertical polar pattern and lower distortion at higher SPL.
3. Diffraction.

The placement of drivers on a baffle causes frequency response irregularities; items 1 and 3 are generally attempts to minimize these effects. There are some excellent freeware programs which allow you to calculate the effect of driver position on the baffle on frequency response- FRD Consortium has published several that I've used, and they are very educational to play with.

TMM is also a 2.5 way, as opposed to the 2 way for MTM - one woofer is midbass and the second is usually a first order electrical bass.
