Default Aramid dampingwool for speakers

Checkout this side: http://www.soundpulp.com

They give a way free samples of aramidwool.

I use the same wool in my dynaudio audience 52 loudspeakers. The cost are normaly € 170,-/kg.

The main difference with my speakers is the bass is clearer and the mids has lots of more detail.

I've applied for a sample to be sent to me in the US. I'm not optimistic.

I've worked with many types of stuffing fibers but not arimids. My studies indicate the finer the diameter of the fiber the better performance. So far, fiberglass has shown to be the most cost effective stuffing material. I recall arimids, while great for heat shields, have larger diameters. I wonder if their arimid is kevlar or nomex. Both are quite expensive as I recall.

The soundpulp wool is a very fine fiber ( 1,7 dtex ). Because this wool has not one overall densitie, it works better then the same fiber with one densitie.

Thanks for the picture. They look like the same staple fiber - one is fluffed and the other not.

1.7 dTex should run in the 10-20 micrometer range perhaps?

Fiberglass averages about 5 micrometers and is MUCH less expensive.

It would be more convincing to publish comparative box Fc's of the same speaker box stuffed with Aramid vs FG. You pick the optimum amount.

I suggest you try some highly carded (fluffed) melt blown polyester and include those with the Aramid vs FG box resonance study. The diameter is finer than FG.
