Default Simulating MTM,MMT,etc?

I know design software does MTM, MT, 2way, 3way, etc... the question I have is, can you also simulate response for a 2way MMT? Which software would have this, or which one has the better information on doing such?

Thanks,
TTYL, kyrie

MMT simulation

No experience with that...but maybe use midpoint between the two woofers/mids

Anyway, its really not the best thing to do...even woofers crossed low is compromised when in pairs, but no near as much as mids MMT

Im not saying it cant work, but its not the ideal...but I know, small 5" mostly have low sensitivity

But no clew what it is you are planning

LspCad will simulate any driver arrangement, you just tell it the relative positions of each driver. Its a steep learning curve though, but then if you want that much flexibility you have to expect it I guess.

The 'Pro' version also models the polar response and lots of other nice things.

SPEAK will do any of those arrangments with polar response - and its free if you have the Transducers book.

Hi,

Just get something that sims 3 ways and make the bass and
mid the same, and of course do not highpass the "midrange".

It is a common perception MMT's should be 2.5 ways and this is the
case with some drivers that the response allows some leeway in
the amount of baffle step applied, as 6dB is implied by 2.5way.
(The drivers need a rising midrange response for this option).

It is common misconception 2.5 way has to be full baffle step.

2 way MMT's do exist e.g. see Avalons range.
http://www.stereophile.com/floorloud...ava/index.html

2.x ways are possible where the upper driver produces more
midrange than the lower, but the lower driver is stepped down
rather than cut-off to control the amount of BSC applied.
It is possible but I've never actually seen it in a real design,
it would have better dispersion than the equivalent 2 way.

2.x or 2.5 way use the clever topology, mid/treble lowpass
applied to both the bass drivers followed by extra response
shaping to one of them - noting this must be taken into
acount when modelling the mid/treble lowpass.

Thank you so much folks, that's moved me right where I need to be, to design/build a pair of MMTs!! The Avalon looks sharp... the only MMT I'd come across was the M&K 750 system for HT, but there wasn't any info on design details.
Can't wait to get started... thanks again everyone!!
