Default enclosure & XO software

Hey all,

I'm in search of SW for enclosure/XO design. It doesn't need to be freeware but, hey... I won't reject the idea of not opening my wallet.

Anyways, I've done many a search here, and other forums and have only come across WinISD. Unfortunately that program seemed to pick and choose what manufacturer specs it liked. Spitting back values at me if they didn't meet whatever verification criteria it used.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

For freeware box design, Unibox is a great tool. For Xos Jeff Bagby's Passive Crossover Designer is also very popular. Both require Excel. Speaker Workshop is another alternative.

If you want to buy some software, the only two I would consider below $300 are SoundEasy and LspCad Standard. Both will also do measurements with the appropriate gear (mic preamp etc)

I use soundeasy and it is the best single tool I have ever bought for speakerbuilding...well except maybe for my router.

Regards,

Dennis

SPEAK is now freeware for those who bought the Audio Transducers book. So buy the book and get the software for free. The book is worth the price.

Earl,

Does one have to have bought the book from you? I got my copy of the book off Amazon.

I'll look into both soundeasy and LspCad. Thanks...

Quickly though, (just in case I can't find a trial version)... do they have the ability to emulate say a 3-way design...? So I can compare frequency response curves.

I know WinISD did the 3-way emulation, but again... I was concerned about software that didn't accept the manufacturer specs.

Thanks again for the reply.

Can anyone comment on a comparison between SPEAK and SoundEasy...?

SPEAK being available at such a lower price, I have to wonder if it's lacking something.

I guess it should be said that I have no concern about learning curve.

Thanks

SPEAK lacks support - I don't support it anymore. But for what it does its very good.
