hey all!
i've been lurking around the threads for a while looking for a great reference music monitor for my apartment. I soon came to relize that there are an overwealming amount of projects to choose from. From carful consideration, I narrowed the criteria set to three different projects and I need help making the final decision.
1) UA701 from usher audio and partexpress. I've herd great things about these scanspeak clones
2) Wonder or System 7 from zalytron using the focal drivers from the utopia line. I dont know much about them except that they are good performers
3)ZA-SR71 designed by zaph audio for madisound. I've herd nothing but good things about these too.
I am guessing these speaker kits are all very good, but what are the best? Music I listen to consists of everything but rap. thanks!

Hi
Out of the 3 similar designs you listed, I would recommend the first, mainly because of the designer and the drivers used (esp mid bass) are very high quality and are a little better value.
You could also get a more complete kit if you don't want to do the woodwork.
Choices 1 and 3 to are close in spec but have a different designer.
Choice 2 is the same designer but should have less bass and output even if I knew the overall spec.

P.S. Beware there are folks that offer untested mods and part substitutions for these... I suggest to built it exactly as designed in the manual. The Cone geometry is part of the crossover design for offaxis respose.
