Default Basics of Speaker Building ?

Can anyone please point me to any sites on the web that explain the fundamentals of speaker building?

I've been reading a lot of threads and have picked up some information, but I'm clueless about what things like f3, f6, Xmax, slopes, etc mean and I haven't been able to find any explanations.

I know there is the Speaker Building 201 book out there which is meant to be good, but I'm in the UK so getting hold of that is a little tricky (unless I order online and then pay big international shipping fees).

Thanks

The Loudspeaker Design Cookbook - Vance Dickason

Use Google Book facility and search "loudspeaker".
You can preview a lot there

Sorry, but that doesn't work - Google doesn't have any previews of that book.

Anyone else?

Sorry for the misunderstanding - I meant you can preview other books on loudspeakers & audio.
The 5th ed of LDC comes w software.
( My 91 3rd edition is pretty worn out as are my original speaker books from the 70's )

Nope, that still doesn't work. All it shows me is the index pages and none of the actual book's content (any of them).

Any other areas to look?

Also:

Yeah, it seems that publishers took Google to court, but they made a settlement outside of it. Something about Google promoting books in partnership with the publishers, but looks like no more free reading.

Oh well, I'll have a look on Amazon for some of those titles.

Thanks for the help.

I started with the Weems book way back. I think they used to sell it at Radio Shack, but I'm dating myself. It's good for getting your feet wet, but not much more. IMO, the Dickason LDC is essential, regardless of how tough it might be to get, you have to have it. There is nothing on-line that really replaces it. The only other thing that would come close is a set of back issues of Speaker Builder magazine, but that's probably harder to find.
